Making a Difference

Between caring for her 99-year-old father and coping with multiple sclerosis herself, Donna* was at the end of her rope when she contacted AgeOptions about her father’s prescription coverage. Her father was developing pneumonia and needed a prescription filled immediately. Donna knew that her father had Medicare and Medicaid coverage, but at the pharmacy she was told coverage had been canceled. An information specialist at AgeOptions helped enroll Donna’s father in the new Medicare Part D program and instructed the pharmacist on how to correctly process the prescription, which was then shortly filled.

Since 1974, we have worked with a network of community-based service organizations throughout suburban Cook County. Together, we reach more than 100,000 people annually who come to us from diverse backgrounds, with unique needs, wants and expectations.

Unfortunately there are many more older adults and family caregivers such as Donna*, who struggle with issues of aging but don’t know how to find help. They don’t realize the resources available to them right in their own communities.
